Cruising Routes

Rolling countryside and serene waters; cruising so close to London never looked as good

From Roydon Marina Village, you’ll lock onto the River Stort allowing you to cruise East enjoying quiet waters and secluded stops through Sawbridgeworth and Bishop’s Stortford.

Heading South from Roydon leads to the junction of the River Lee and River Stort; there are several pubs within a short cruise in either direction. Continue southwards and you’ll enjoy a scenic cruise through the Lee Valley, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park as well as the sights of central London from the water.

Shopping & Necessities

Roydon Marina Village is centrally located and only a short walk from Roydon Village high street

The nearby towns of Harlow and Hertford are both only a short drive from Roydon and are home to major supermarkets. Central London is also only a short train journey away, allowing easy access to all major shops, bars and restaurants.

There is so much to see and do around Roydon and the surrounding towns and villages

The Lee Valley White Water Rafting Centre is close to the marina and a great adrenaline-fuelled day out with the opportunity to take on the Olympic course or relax with a family paddle the lake.

The nearby Rye House Kart Raceway is a famous venue that has become one of the UK’s foremost karting centres and offers the perfect introduction into the world of motorsport. You can also combine your day on the track with laser tag, nerf wars or Rye-assic Park for the little ones for a fun-filled day out for all the family.

The Briggens House and Canons Brook golf clubs are nearby, and welcome visitors. Canons Brook is an 18 hole course situated within 112 acres of mature countryside. This 6,706-yard par 73 championship course was designed by Sir Henry Cotton.

Art lovers will enjoy the Grade II listed Gibberd Garden which is acknowledged to be one of the most important 20th century gardens in the country. A lively seasonal events programme includes music, theatre, art and writing days. This 9-acre paradise is dotted with exquisite sculptures and decorative objects, featuring pools, streams, a wild garden and an arboretum. There is a shop and tea room and dogs are welcome.

If you like exotic animals, head to Hertfordshire Zoo (formerly Paradise Wildlife Park) which is set in the beautiful surroundings of Broxbourne woods, in the heart of the Hertfordshire countryside. Offering over 30 different pre booked exotic animal experiences from Feeding the Big Cats to Meeting the Meerkats, this family run Wildlife Park is renowned for getting close to the animals and educating through fun. Dinosaur World is a fun activity for any dinosaur fans in the family!
