Description

Meet Poppet, a charming and well-loved 60ft traditional stern narrowboat, built by Colecraft in 2006 and beautifully maintained ever since. Priced at £58,000, she offers a smart layout, characterful finishes, and a wealth of onboard features ideal for comfortable living or extended cruising.

Entering from the traditional stern, you’ll find a cleverly designed engine bay space. The Perkins engine sits neatly beneath removable wooden panels for easy access. A custom-built bench encircles the diesel heater, creating a compact seating area with added sound insulation - practical, warm, and well-executed.

The bedroom offers a peaceful escape with a raised double bed, complete with ample storage space below for the calorifier and leisure batteries. A new Eve mattress (2024) adds to the comfort, while a full-size desk and large chest of drawers make this space ideal for remote working or day-to-day life. A mid-sized radiator, powered by the diesel heating system, keeps things cosy all year round.

The bathroom offers both privacy and practicality. It features a compact bath with shower, heated by the diesel system, and a “Floozy” separator compost toilet by Strumpet and Trollop (new in 2022). The layout avoids the walk-through style, allowing the space to be closed off without interrupting the rest of the boat.

The galley is a clever combination of function and form. Equipped with a built-in gas stove with four hobs, oven, and grill, it also includes two large storage drawers (one cleverly hidden under the counter), a hanging storage rail, and a magnetic knife rack. The Inlander low-voltage fridge (new in 2022) offers energy-efficient cooling, and a modified washing machine runs off battery power. Shelves lining the port wall provide even more room for kitchen essentials.

The flexible dinette area offers a cosy spot for meals or work. The free-standing table and benches can be set up lengthways for two or crossways for four, depending on your needs. More shelving lines the port wall, offering practical storage without compromising space or style.

At the bow, the lounge welcomes you with double glass-panelled doors and a bright, homely atmosphere. A Camit Design sofa, built in 2023, offers under-seat storage and converts into a 110cm wide guest bed. A Samsung Smart TV, mounted on a swing arm, adds modern comfort, and the Go Eco Adventurer 5 stove (also new in 2023) ensures a warm, relaxing environment. A large radiator connected to the diesel heating system supports comfortable living throughout the seasons.

The cratch area completes Poppet’s offering, enclosed by a fabric cover and framed by a bespoke A-frame engraved with marine nature scenes - a beautiful detail that adds to her unique charm. With windowed sides, it provides additional sheltered space that’s both functional and visually appealing.

With a warm personality, intelligent layout, and excellent off-grid capabilities, Poppet is more than a boat - she’s a floating retreat full of charm, character, and thoughtful design.
