Description

Pom is a characterful 56ft semi-traditional narrowboat with a creative, colourful feel and a thoughtfully designed interior. Originally built as a hire boat, she has been lovingly renovated by her current owner over the past five years and is now set up to offer comfortable living whether you’re cruising the waterways or enjoying life from a marina berth.

Built by Clifton Cruisers, Pom has a practical layout running from stern to bow as office, bedroom, bathroom, galley and dinette, making excellent use of her 56ft length. Her colourful paintwork continues inside and out, giving the boat a distinctive and individual character.

The spacious galley and dining area create a sociable heart to the boat, with a gas cooker and hob, under-counter fridge and plenty of cleverly designed storage. A useful gunnel-mounted rack provides additional space for pots and pans, while shelving along the corridor has been put to good use as a pantry. The galley opens into the dinette, creating an airy and open feel.

The dinette has space for an extendable dining table, which comfortably seats three even at its smallest setting. Positioned alongside the Hobbit stove, it provides a cosy spot for cooler evenings, while the area also opens out towards an outdoor nook, making it ideal for summer dining. The space has previously accommodated a small sofa bed but has most recently been used as a home office.

Towards the stern, the office area offers a versatile space for working or relaxing. There is an airing cupboard above the hot water tank, coat storage, an open wardrobe and a cleverly tucked-away washer-dryer. Heating is provided by a diesel air heater, complemented by the Hobbit stove in the main living area.

The bedroom features a small double bed with useful under-bed storage and drawers, alongside ample shelving and an under-gunnel rail for hanging clothes or towels.

The bathroom is practical and well equipped, with a cassette toilet, shower with good water pressure and a hand basin with storage beneath. The boat retains infrastructure from its previous pump-out toilet installation should a future owner wish to consider converting it.

Pom is powered by a Beta Marine 43 engine, which was overhauled in 2024 and has been serviced annually by the current owner. She benefits from a 280Ah LiFePO4 lithium battery, diesel heating and a Hobbit stove. Water capacity is approximately 900 litres in the main tank, with a further 180-litre roof tank.

The cabin is insulated with Rockwool and Kingspan and has an approximate cabin height of 6ft 1in. Both pram and cratch covers are included. Pom's Boat Safety Scheme certificate runs until June 2028, and she was last blacked in summer 2025 using Intertuf.

With her generous length, versatile layout, useful office space and distinctive character, Pom offers a comfortable and individual way to enjoy life on the inland waterways, with the flexibility to cruise or settle into marina life.
